The Guards, also known as the Pink Soldiers or Masked Men, are the staff who manage, maintain and enforce the rules of the Squid Games on behalf of the organiser.

The guards all wear the same basic clothing to preserve their anonymity. These are a pink hooded jumpsuit, black gloves and boots, and an impregnated mask to conceal their identity. These masks bear one of three symbols indicating their rank.

Managers | ☐ Square symbol

Managers are ground commanders who act on direct orders from the organiser. They are responsible for organising the guards, passing on information to the players and punishing soldiers who step out of line. It is these guards that the organiser trusts the most. They are the highest-ranking personnel on the island.

Soldiers | △ Triangle symbol

Soldiers are the armed henchmen who eliminate eliminated players and prevent competitors from breaking the rules of the game. Soldiers are equipped with Smith & Wesson for single eliminations. Soldiers are also equipped with MP5s, which are used to eliminate large groups.

Workers | ⭘ Circle symbol

Workers are “civilian” staff in the sense that they are responsible for menial tasks – disposing of bodies, preparing games, cleaning up maintenance and distributing food. Their role in Squid Games does not require them to speak or possess weapons.
